I am a 44-year-old transgendered person on disability. I'm barely making ends meet. I am also a musician.
The NC Division of Vocational Rehabilitation believed enough in me to sponsor me to take guitar lesson to further hone my craft and in addition also purchased musical equipment that I needed to be successful in my field.
I would either like someone to donate a car to me or help me raise the money to get one in order for me to make it to gigs, auditions and open mic nights.
I also need a car to make it to transgender support groups. The only one in the area meets too late for me to take the bus. I just moved to Asheville, NC and don't have many friends yet.
I don't have any other transgendered friends and I need to reach out to others like myself in my community.
I feel very isolated and alone most of the time and am prone to depression because I can't get out much.
I'm also an online student at Kaplan University. My goal is to someday get off disability either through my music or by getting a fulltime job when I finish school.
I want to be a productive and responsible member of society. I don't need a hand out but a helping hand.
