41 Year Old Disabled Single Father Seeks Housing Grant For Better Family Life

by Donald Hudson
(Wilson, NC, USA)

I'm a 41-year-old proud father of two beautiful children. I'm looking for help to find a new place to live.

Soon to be divorced, I have custody of my daughter. I have raised her since the age of 7 months to now at the age of 7 years old.

My son is 15 and is maturing into a wonderful and respectful young man. I'm very proud of my kids.

I love my community but it's time to go. Drugs have taken over and I need better.

The disability I have is hard to describe. My body is somewhat covered with moles and they hurt and at times they burn.

It also leads to seizures and dizzy spells. I manage at times but I have to live life. It's hard and embarrassing walking around and having people stare and laugh when they walk by.

I get SSI for my daughter and me. It's hard trying to budget money to pay rent for a new home and to buy clothes and food.

Giving my children what they ask for is hard because there's no money to spare.

The electricity bill is high because the house is so old.

My car caught on fire within 24 hours of buying it. I took it back to the dealership but lost money on it.

I have tried and I get SSI. I have also tried to get help from other sources like churches, but without success. It's a drug neighborhood.

I'm looking for a grant to help us move into a new home where we can feel safe and comfortable with somewhere for kids to play.

I'd like a place I can really call home, one that has no roaches, rats, drug dealers and women walking the streets.

You have to remember that regardless of the outcome you are being a good dad and a responsible parent. I hope for the best for you and your family. Always know what's on the inside because that's what matters most.
