37 Year Old Mother Seeks Government Grant For Farming Business

by Brigitte Skye Meade
(Stephentown, New York, USA)

This is my story. I am 37 years old. I have worked since the age of 12. I would like to continue working, but for myself, with my own business.

My family doctor advised me never to work. He said to go straight on disability, because I have psoriatic arthritis.

If you don't know what it is you are lucky. It is a very painful disease that attacks your immune system and weakens your bones.

I have lived with this since I was born. I was able to work until I had my son at age 29. After I had my son I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia on top of what I already have, another painful disease without a cure.

I cannot take any painkillers. I am allergic to them all. If you have ever dealt with pain you know that being around people does not work.

My son is eight. He is learning disabled. I take care of him although I have not been able to work for eight years and have been living on disability.

He needs a lot of extra help and support. I don't mind doing this at all. I love being his mother. And being his mother I want something better for us.

I want to create a business that he can take over when he gets old enough, and that he can help me with now while he is young.

We live in a farming community in a very rural area in Stephentown, New York. A grant could help me buy enough land with a house on it. There are plenty for sale around.

We could grow vegetables, raise bees, and livestock, be self-sufficient and not have to rely on disability checks to survive.

I would actually have a legacy to leave my son. I love to work I always have and with this opportunity I would be able to do what I love and always wanted to do.

Thank you for your consideration.
