30 Year Old Disabled Single Mother Seeks Government Grant Or Benefits

by Cyrina Gonzalez
(Ocala, FL. USA)

I am a 30-year-old disabled single mother currently living at home with my 4-year-old daughter, Bellatrix.

Although I do like to keep busy, I cannot work due to my disability. I have what is called Cerebellar Ataxia.

I am mostly confined to a wheelchair. I work out 3 days a week with a personal trainer, and I walk, horseback ride and swim.

I was in the hospital for 3 months and ICU for 13 days. I had to re-learn almost everything: walking, talking, personal care and eating to list a few.

I need help with care for Bellatrix and myself.

In my house it is difficult to do everything from the wheelchair.

There are things I cannot reach and rooms I cannot go in because the doors are too narrow for my chair (my daughter's room is one).

Because of the brain injury I cannot drive (I lack coordination) and I have intentional tremors (I shake).

When an MRI was done originally, my cerebellum was normal. Now it has shriveled down to a quarter of its original size, according to the latest MRI.

I currently receive SSDI and child support, but $2000 a month doesn't cut it.

Because of my disability it is hard to find a job that will suit my needs.

I am hoping for benefits and/or a grant. My lack of any sort of contribution is making my family life very stressful.

I need help to alleviate my current life and conditions.

There must be a proper support for disabled persons like yourself. If you were in Australia, it would have been a much better life for you I suppose. People and governments, I plead with you to please provide help and support to this young lady in any sort of way possible. Every help will count.
