My Son and I
My name is Jill Zuyus. I am 28 years of age and I am a single mommy of a wonderful eight-year-old boy. I'm looking for government grant money to improve our lives.
Four years ago his father ran away. We don't know where he is.
Before that I found out he cheated on me with many girls and he never gave me money or anything like that, and he stole any money that his family would give to him to give to me for the baby.
A year after he ran away, which was three years ago, I got sick and had to go to the hospital. I was two hours from not making it and it was touch and go for a while.
I was told I had a 2 ft long blood clot in my left leg and I still have it. I am doing okay now. I have great doctors and I am alright.
I was on bed rest for two months and a wheel chair and walker and cane. Now only once in a while do I use the cane but I have to watch everything I do.
I'm on blood thinners and I cant work. I am on Social Security Disability. I get $640 a month. I'm trying to get food stamps now.
I cant live off of $640 a month. I live at home with my parents and they are wonderful. I give them $400 a month out of the money for rent and food and other things and for my son for school and clothes.
It's not really working well. My father is sick as well but he works, for low pay though. They are paying a mortgage, which is why I give them so much.
I find it wrong and hurtful to me that if you are a drunk or a druggy you can get a few $1,000 from SSD, but if you are really sick and can't help what happened to you, you are in trouble.
I just learned how to drive and I need a car. I would really like to get something I can trust putting my son into and getting him to and from school and getting me to and from the doctors.
I really need a grant to help me out here, but I need it this summer. I am slowly getting depressed because no one will help me.
I am not asking much. I never do. I am just a single mommy that is sick and needs help. Please help me.
It is not easy at all living with this blood clot, because you never know what is going to change, and not getting any help or not being able to work is very upsetting and stressful.
It's hard when you are the person that everyone went to for help with everything and now you are limited to what you and your body are able to do.
I can't take a long walk with my child, or play any sports with him like I did before I got sick.
If I could get a government grant or other similar aid to get my car I would be able to do more with my child.
