28 Year Old Single Dad Seeks Education Grant Money For GED Studies

by Warren Lee Wasson
(Gas City, Indiana, USA)

My name is Warren Wasson. I am 28 years old and I have sole physical custody of my 8-year-old twin children Gavin and Ivory Wasson.

As their father it is my duty to do what I can to make sure they get what they need to succeed where I haven't.

I am a single parent in a small town with little opportunity. I try the hardest I can to do what I can.

A couple months ago I was fired from my place of employment. I was working at a restaurant named Cracker Barrel.

Now I am laying carpet and tile and picking up small things like mowing lawns and building furniture.

Unfortunately the demand for my line of work is very small. I would like to try and go back to school to get my G.E.D. and a degree in business.

I have noticed that my line of expertise is not as high of a demand as I thought or hoped it would be.

I constantly have to try and figure out a way to keep the electric on and pay the rent. The stress level is insane.

My children deserve a good life and that is all I wish to give them. I would like to be able to afford to let my son play basketball and my daughter to go to school activities like skating parties without forfeiting our car payment.

Slowly I have fallen behind financially and at the moment am barely keeping my head above water.

I can't even get up the money to pay the initial fee of $70 to get my GED.

I have worked many small jobs and worked at temporary employment facilities. I have mowed lawns and sold almost everything of value that I own.

My children receive $66 a month for their mother's S.S.I. I do not receive child support and I have to send them out to the state of California (per court order) 3 times a year for their mother's visitation at my expense.

I am looking/hoping for a grant to help me get out of this hole and into school so I can better my skills to provide a fuller life for my twin children.

Anything would help and relieve some of the stress and weight that is currently on my shoulders.

I plead with whoever reads this to please help me achieve the necessary skills to give my twin children the chance they deserve.
