My name is LaTasha'onna Maclin. I'm 18 years old. I got pregnant with my daughter Aai'Yonna Scott when I was 16 years old.
She was born September 12, 2007 with spina bifida. When she was one day old she had a six-hour surgery. Two weeks later, I brought my baby home from the hospital.
From then I tried my hardest to stay in school. I became a state-tested Nursing Assistant when I was 17. I'm currently enrolled now.
My daughter also has a shunt. She's had two shunt revisions since birth. She has to be catheterized every three hours. She's had 10 UTIs (Urinary Tract Infections).
I'll cut to the chase. I'm living at the homeless shelter with my daughter. It's not that bad I just don't feel it's safe to have my baby in this environment.
I want get a little cash just to get us out this situation. I will appreciate it. I want to raise about $10,000 so when I finally get my own place it will be toy city for my daughter. I want to be able to catheterize my daughter on a clean surface.
My daughter and I really deserve an opportunity like this. We went through a lot.
I would also like to start my own organization for teenage mothers who are having rough times like me.
